Its scenic geographical location at the confluence of the Rivers Meuse and Sambre, and its beautiful 17th and 18th-century architecture have also made it a favourite place to live among well-to-do Belgians (mostly but not only Walloons). Namur's gently picturesque old-town core has much to discover if you look behind the slightly grubby exterior.
